Wisconsin
Box Company traces its roots back to the year 1900. The company
originally began as a manufacturer of nailed wooden shipping
boxes and crates.
In 1921, Wisconsin Box officially acquired the rights to a
process for making wirebound boxes and crates - the main product
line that Wisconsin Box makes to this day.
Moving on to the late 1940's and early 1950's, an important
contribution to the wirebound box industry was made by B.
Eugene ("Gene") Davis, when he developed and pioneered
the use of what has come to be known as the wirebound "pallet
box". This allowed for the handling of containers holding
as much as 1-2 tons and more by mechanical handling equipment
such as forklift trucks.
In 1961 Gene Davis became vice president in charge of sales
and by 1967 had acquired controlling ownership of Wisconsin
Box. Under his leadership, Wisconsin Box continued to grow
despite the challenges of the prevailing economic conditions
as well as the introduction of substitute forms of packaging
such as "triple wall" corrugated boxes. In January
of 1984, Gene Davis Sr. stepped down as president of Wisconsin
Box Company and his younger son W.J. "Jeff" Davis
picked up where his father left off. |
Since
Jeff Davis took control of the company, Wisconsin Box has
expanded its original manufacturing location in Wausau, Wisconsin
by adding three (3) other manufacturing locations in Cleveland,
WI; Tonawanda (Buffalo) NY; and Dyer, TN.
Today, Wisconsin Box Company is the only manufacturer of wirebound
boxes with multiple plant locations to serve its customers.
Wisconsin Box has become the industry-wide leader in the design
and fabrication of wirebound wooden shipping boxes and crates,
with over 100 years of continued service and dedication to
its clients. |
